discovery travel: beppu
edited: sorry ... my webhosting pics was a bit screwed up. =)
warning:
please wait a few seconds for the page to load. i did post up quite a number of pictures.
*sorry sorry*
information:
beppu -> one of the best onsen/hot spring place in japan. ;)
*ahem* due to the existence of a few very extraordinary hot springs/onsens in beppu, the japs decided to be extremely creative and call most of the hot springs that are stated here as hell, or jigoku in japanese.
why? erm, because it's so hot, it seems like hell?
soo, they begin to name their hot springs (in beppu that is) as blood red hell pond, sea hell, mountain hell, ... this hell ... and that hell. ;)
anywayz, picture speaks a thousand words. enjoy =) :
[supposedly lots of picture]
all rights, now i shall get back to business. ;)
besides watching the hot springs and sight seeing, i also came upon this interesting place that my host parents wanted to take me too. what is that you say?
it's called monkey mountain.
[supposedly picture]
the highest mountain of all is the monkey business, erm, i mean mountain. =)
yes yes, u didn't hear me wrong my dear, but that is what they are called. apparently there live about almost 3 thousand monkeys, and each are divided into 3 colonies. anyways, i wouldn't want to say anything about the history here, but if you are interested,
at first i couldn't believe that they could be so many monkeys, but the group that i visited only consisted 700, while the next group are 1300! it is so freaking scary!
[supposedly picture]
monkey see monkey do??
at the mountain, the monkeys are spread alll over, and each are doing their own business:
- some are fighting
---->from my observation, i notice that most of the fights are initiated by those "tai kor's" (meaning bosses in chinese) of those monkeys, and they are quite easy to distinguish. i tried my hypoethesis, and put it to test, and observe with my brains out for about almost half an hour, and thus, i finally came up with a conclusion.
conclusion:
the characteristic that one must have in order to become a "tai kor" are:
- a big fat ass, whereby the colour must be as red as their face, and also a big sized body.
thus, whenever one, who is lucky enough to have these characteristic, will then have the full privillege to start a fight
all the time and make a hell lot of noise!! arghhh!!!!
[supposedly picture]
can you see that red area?
no it's not their face,
though i have to admit they do have an uncanny resemblance,
but that is his ass.
his big fat red ass
-
some are scratching each other's back
(and asses too. i swear! i have a photo to prove to you ;)),
[supposedly picture]
-
some are posing for photos.
heck, one was stalking me for a while, as i was holding a camera!
- most sat on everywhere like notice board, trees, wooden gate, rocks, stairs, and etc, and you could even see some of them jumping up and down from the trees. plus, they were not in a cage. so, they are actually
all over the place, walking among us and all.
[supposedly picture]
-
ah, but all of them are doing the same common thing: they were all screaming, shrieking, calling or whatever that you call them. they are darnnnnn noisy!!
but alas, though i do make a lot of fun about their red face and as........ermmmm........ i mean, body parts, i seriously felt sad for them too, as their habitat is so near the city.

this railway track is just outside the monkey'S mt.
sometimes these monkeys are killed by the train if they wander off to that area, and so happen that they were also unlucky on that day.
sad, i mean, these monkeys are really cute! hehe .. esp the baby monkeys
